Family Health OS: A Private, AI-Powered Health Dashboard for People and Pets

Data & AI Digital & App Innovation

Every family accumulates health records: lab results, imaging reports, visit notes, vaccination cards, prescriptions. Pet owners accumulate a parallel pile of veterinary records. In practice they end up scattered across a shared cloud drive as PDFs, scans, and photos with inconsistent names and no structure.

Maxim Cloud Solutions built the alternative: a complete family health operating system that runs itself, on infrastructure the family controls.

The Problem

Scattered records create real, recurring pain:

  • Nobody can answer “what was that lab value last year?” without digging through dozens of files.
  • Preparing for a doctor or vet visit means manually reconstructing a history every time.
  • Trends in weight, blood pressure, and lab metrics are invisible because the data is trapped inside documents.
  • Commercial health apps solve some of this by asking the family to upload its most sensitive data to a third party.

The family wanted the convenience of a modern health app with a non-negotiable constraint: the health data stays private, on infrastructure the family controls, and is never exposed to the public internet, third-party analytics, or email.

The Idea

Let AI do the filing, and let the family keep the data. Instead of uploading a lifetime of medical records to someone else’s cloud, the system lives on self-hosted infrastructure behind a zero-trust, invite-only front door, and self-hosted, isolated LLM models do the tedious work no one ever gets around to: reading every new document, filing it, pulling out the numbers, and keeping every family member’s picture of their own health current.

What We Built

A production family health operating system: a private, invite-only web dashboard for every member of the family, people and pets alike, served from a private domain behind layered authentication.

  • A single pane of glass per family member. Each person or pet gets their own dashboard: recent documents, medications, visit history, metric trend charts, care notes, and alerts, with strict isolation so no one sees a family member they have not been granted.
  • A hands-off AI ingestion pipeline. New records reach the system two ways: files dropped into the family’s shared drive, or records simply emailed in for a family member. Either way, each document is automatically classified, renamed, summarized, filed to the right family member, and mined for structured metrics overnight, one document at a time, so every dashboard is current every morning with no manual filing.
  • AI chat with citations. Each family member has a chat assistant grounded in their records only. Every answer cites its source documents, and the assistant never gives medical advice and never mixes family members.
  • Alerts, visit prep, and a family calendar. Custom per-member alert rules, one-click printable summaries to bring to a doctor or vet appointment, and a shared appointment calendar that plugs into the family’s existing calendar apps.
  • Privacy engineered in, not bolted on. Health data never leaves the family’s control and never travels over email; notification emails are de-identified teasers with the details living only behind the login. Sensitive data is encrypted at rest, every access is audited, and the AI is architecturally prevented from seeing more than one family member’s records at once.

The Outcome

A real product in daily use by a real family, not a proof of concept. Every family member, human or animal, has a living health dashboard that updates itself overnight. Visit prep went from an hour of digging to one printout, and trends that were invisible inside PDFs are now charts.

All of it runs on family-controlled infrastructure behind layered authentication, with health data never leaving the family’s hands, proving that AI-powered convenience and genuine privacy are not a trade-off.
